Kids will enjoy playing in the tub or sprinkler with this easy to make body paint. It's safe to use and washes right off.

Face painting and body painting is something almost every kid enjoys doing. And it does not seem to matter how old they are - kids from the toddler stage on up to teens (and even a few adults!) enjoy decorating themselves and having fun. You can go to your local department store and buy tiny bottles of body paint at an outrageous price or you can do what many moms do - make your own. Not only is it inexpensive, but you know exactly what is in the body paint you make for your kids. This helps if your child is allergic or sensitive to different types of skin care products.

You will need the following supplies:

2 cups baby shampoo (you can use the tearless as well but it is best to avoid getting into the eyes)

different colored powdered tempura paints

airtight container for each color you want to make - personal size empty travel shampoo bottles work great for this easy art project

What you do:

1. Divide the shampoo into several portions. You may want to make several colors or have enough for the whole group to play with.

2. Start adding the powdered tempura paint in small amounts. As you add a small amount, stir and shake well. Keep adding until the shampoo is a nice medium bright color. You do not want to make the shampoo extra dark.

3. Repeat for each color that you want to make.

This fun kid's craft body paint recipe is so easy to make. You can even give it as gifts for birthdays and Christmas. This makes a fun craft to do with the kids during the warmer weather months. After making their very own body paint they can then go outside and paint each other all they want. Simply turn on the hose or sprinkler and let them run through to rinse the body paint off. Kids can also play with it in the bathtub as it will not stain the tubs.

This kid's craft recipe is also great to use as a craft project for groups such as girl scouts, 4-H or cub scouts. If you home school it makes a great addition to a unit on health and hygiene. This body paint is so easy and simple to make it will become a regular product in your house. Fun, affordable and easy to make - who can ask for more than that?
