Candy Corn Wreath

Start with a butter cookie, add some candy corn and before you know it you will have a cute candy corn wreath.

This fun and easy kid's craft will go perfect with any number of themes. It goes great with the Thanksgiving and holiday season, a theme on harvest or farming and even a pilgrim theme. It is a fun craft for preschoolers and toddlers to participate in as well as older kids.

Make a Cute Candy Corn Wreath

These yummy cookie wreaths are a big hit and you want to make sure that you make plenty of them. Because once everyone sees how much fun they are, the wreaths will be gone and your neighbors will want the recipe. They add a bit of fun and sparkle that you can eat to your day. They are also the perfect quick snack for young children. So let's get started making some delicious cookie wreaths.

What you need for each wreath:

  • 1 round shaped butter cookie or vanilla cookie
  • vanilla frosting (use the store bought in a can)
  • approximately 10 pieces of candy corn
  • a plastic knife
  • napkin

What you do:

  1. Lay your cookie out on the napkin. Spread the icing over the cookie make a smooth layer. This acts like glue and will hold the candy corn wreath together.
  2. Now take your candy corns and place them around the cookie. You want the small pointy end facing towards the middle of the cookie Make sure the candy corn fits snuggly next to each other.
  3. Share with a friend.

NOTE: You can also take ribbon or yarn and string it through the cookie and hang up your miniature cookie wreath.

Suggested Ideas for Activities Using the Candy Corn Wreath

  1. Use this to teach step by step reasoning to preschoolers. Go over the steps with them as you make a candy corn cookie wreath. Then ask the children to tell you what came first, what came second, etc.
  2. Make these as a snack for an Old MacDonald Had a Farm Theme.
  3. Make and give this miniature candy corn wreaths out at Thanksgiving time. As you hand each child a cookie have him say what he is thankful for.
  4. Practice counting up to ten when you put the candy corn on the cookie. Then use the plate full of cookies to practice counting by tens.
  5. Use different colored icing and try make candy flowers. Instead of putting candy corn on the wraths but M & M's, Skittles or other small pieces f candy as decorations. Get creative!
