There are many things you can do with a coloring sheet to extend beyond your normal print and color with crayons. Here are a few ideas to use with this free printable coloring sheet.

1. Print out on cardstock and use water color paints to color your picture.

2. Color the polar bear heavily with a white crayon. Add white crayon stars in the sky. Don't worry if you can't see them on the white cardstock. Now brush dark blue paint over the whole picture. You have a wonderful painting of a polar bear at night! Sprinkle glitter on the wet paint and you have a snowy scene as well.

3. Print on construction paper and color with chalks.

4. Use colored pencils or markers to color your polar bear. Then glue white yarn to the picture's outline of the polar bear.

5. Color your picture and draw some eskimoes in the background. Do not forget the igloo. Gle cotton on the polar bear. Paint the igloo with glue and sprinkle glitter on the it.

6. Add the polar bear to your nature notebook. Add him under vertebrates

then mammals.

Here are some of the things my kids and I have done with coloring pages.

Sand Art- Print a coloring page on cardstock and then use sand art to decorate it. First you may want to outline your picture in black sand just take your bottle of glue and run a line of it on the boarder and sprinkle the sand on. Using one color at a time smooth some glue onto a section of your picture and then add the sand. If you want to store it in a notebook you may want to slid it in a page protector or put some contact paper over it. My three older kids (18, 16, and 15 year old now)and I did this when they where toddlers we bought it in a kit and then last summer I got the idea of using coloring pages on card stock it was cheaper than a kit and larger pages. We also did this outside.

Do-A-Dot Art (Bingo Blotter) - Print the coloring page on card stock and then use the bingo blotters to blot out dots, dabs and designs. My youngest and I did this when he was about 3 years old or so (He is now 11) I got the idea when I seen bingo blotters at Big-Lots. For Ideas I'm adding a link. http://www.unitednow.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=DAD-B350

Collage Art- Print the picture on regular printer paper then color the picture. Cut the picture out and clue it to a sheet of construction paper. Make other back ground pieces such as a tree or sun to add to the construction paper. You could use an extra coloring sheets or construction paper for the back ground pieces. My kids and I did this when they wanted to do a poster or something and didn't want to draw.

Texture Art- If your coloring page is a lion you could add a yarn mane. If you have a coloring page that is a bird in a nest you could add Spanish moss to the nest. I did these projects with a Homeschool preschool class.
