If you have been searching for an interesting craft project to do with your kids, then you will enjoy making this stenciled step stool. Not only is this a fun and creative craft but one that is a useful household item as well. So gather up your supplies, a ladder and getting ready for some crafting fun. What You Need:
Getting Started: Prepare the LadderYou will want to work either outside or in a large open room like a garage. Spread the newspaper on the floor over your work area. Now set the stepladder on top of the newspaper. Spray paint the stepladder with your base color making sure you cover the entire step ladder. Let the step ladder dry overnight and then you will be ready to go to work. Paint Your Step LadderMove the step ladder to wherever you are going to work. Make sure you are still in a well ventilated area when working with the paints. Gather up your sponges, stencils and paints. Sponge paint the shapes and designs onto the ladder first. You might want to draw your design out on paper before doing the actual painting. Let this part dry thoroughly. Personalize Your Step LadderNow carefully plan where you want to stencil your name or a favorite saying. You might want to use your family's last name or write something like "Sam's Stepping Stool". You can do this on the side of the step ladder on the top. Keep in mind the top of the ladder will get a lot of wear so the side is a good choice for durability. Let the paint dry. If you don't want to stencil the words you can carefully write on the ladder with colored permanent markers as well. Put Your Step Stool to UseNow you are ready to use your step ladder. Place it in the kitchen, bathroom or garage to for everyday use. It can also be a decoration. You can set potted plants on the step ladder in a sunny room. It also makes a great accessory for a child's room. Everything from teddy bears to trophies can be displayed on the step ladder.
