This easy to make kids craft is perfect for so many things - journaling, taking notes, a diary or a nature journal.
Hands-On Happenings – Make a Covered Notebook This month’s project is a cool covered notebook. Make one to match your favorite outfit or make several and share with a friend. Fun for all ages but easy enough for the younger crowd with some older help. You can use this notebook as a diary, to take notes in school, as a nature journal or even an address book. Make several and give them as gifts. Why not make a traveling journal? Each person has it for a day, writes in it and then passes it to the next, then start all over again. What you need:
What you do: 1.Lay your fabric out wrong side facing up. Open the notebook flat and lay it directly in the center of the fabric and trace around it. Remove the notebook. 2. Now glue and fold over the top and bottom of the fabric. The line you traced from the top of your notebook is your fold line for both. Put glue on the fabric, making sure you get some close to the edge and fold over. Press down firmly and smooth in place. Do the same thing for the bottom. 3. Measure 1/2 inches in on the right side. This is your fold line. Put a line of glue on the very edge of the fabric and fold over. This will make your edges neat. Repeat for the left side. 4. Next lay your notebook down open on the fabric. The top and bottom edges you just glued should be even with the top and bottom of your notebook. Make sure your notebook is centered on the fabric. 5. Now put glue on the side flaps of fabric and fold over and glue to the inside cover of your notebook. Pressing down firmly and smoothing it out. Do the same thing on the left side. 6. Finally decorate the cover. Use stickers, markers, fabric paints or whatever you like to give it a look that is totally YOU! Be sure and check out all our crafts here at Kids Crafts.
