Make your own soap in all kinds of fun shapes. Super easy and makes great gifts.

You can make all kinds of fancy soap shapes with a few simple ingredients. Make flowers for mom, football soap for dad, soap on a rope for your brother or soap with pretty beads in it for your sister.

Parental supervision is needed for this craft. It involves hot items.

What you need:

Glycerin soap - you can get this in all kinds of colors, but the soap has to be glycerin soap. You can buy glycerin bars in the soap making section of your craft store as well.

Soap or candy molds - candy molds work wonderfully and come in all kinds of neat shapes.

Small microwavable containers

Something to stir with

a knife (use only with adult supervision - an adult may need to use this)

What you do:

1. Cut your bar of soap into several large chunks.

2. Put a piece of soap in your microwavable container. Melt it on high for about 10-15 seconds. It doesn't take long! Stir and if it needs more time do five second intervals until it is all melted.

3. Remove cup from the microwave carefully. Use potholders. Stir soap.

4. You have to work QUICK!! Pour soap into molds and wait 5 - 10 minutes for the soap to cool.

Ideas:

Put a small trinket or beads into the mold before pouring in the soap.

Make a loop from a piece of yarn. Lay the straight end in the mold for soap on a rope.

Make small gift bags with soap for your teacher and friends.
