Ideas to get you started on all kinds of nature projects. These warm weather crafts are easy to do and fun for kids of all ages.

Summertime is the perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy nature. The warmer weather also provides an opportunity for crafts that are not available any other time of the year. Animals, flowers, tress and water all provide an endless source for nature crafts that kids can do.

In this article you will ideas for easy kid’s crafts that all require just a few things. They all need something from nature (shells, leaves, dried flowers), a kid and some imagination. The rest is up to you! Let your imagination run wild this summer as you explore the great outdoors.

Beach & Sand Crafts

The beach is a great place to find sea shells, bits of pretty driftwood, sea “glass” (broken glass that has been washed by the sea and is polished and smooth), interesting animals and the sun. A fantastic easy craft for kids at the beach is Sand Casting. Read the article and you will find you don’t even really need a beach, just some sand.

Gather up different sizes and shapes of sea shells and use them to decorate a picture frame with a picture of you on vacation. Be sure and use craft glue. Sea shells also make great candle decoration.

Sand painting is another nice craft for kids. This one you can do year round. Use sand or salt to make your colored sand.

Leaves & Wildflower Crafts

Science joins arts and crafts when you learn how to press and dry leaves and wildflowers. Make a wildflower press or use a heavy book to press you flowers. These can be turned into all kinds of wonderful art projects. You can make bookmarks, glue them on stationary, or simply make a wildflower collection book.

Leaves are great for rubbing and collecting. Glue them around a window frame, iron them in between was paper for a stained glass effect or just tape them to your wall in a pleasing manner.

Put on Your Thinking Cap

If you look around you when out walking keep an eye out for pretty flowers you can dry, colorful rocks, odd shaped pieces of wood or other interesting objects. Keep them in a collection box and before you know it you will have some wonderful things to use in future craft projects.
