Springtime is a season of new beginnings. Celebrate the joys of spring with your child by making these easy and fun crafts together.
It is spring and what better way to celebrate than to make a few crafts. When you think of spring, you probably think of the sunny weather, rainbows, and having a great time outside. Here are a few ideas for making easy and fun spring themed crafts. Spring GardenIf you don’t have a green thumb, then try making your garden out of paper and other items you probably have around the house. For each “garden”, you will need a paper cup, three green pipe cleaners, a small piece of Styrofoam, and pastel muffin cup liners. Start by decorating the cup any way you choose. Push the piece of Styrofoam inside the cup. To make the flowers, take two muffin liners (you can use different colors or the same) and cinch it in the middle. Twist slightly and wrap the end of the pipe cleaner around the twist to secure the flower to the stem. Push the pipe cleaner into the Styrofoam. You now have a spring garden that does not require a green thumb. Easy ButterflyThis is an easy craft that any kid can make. Make several and hang them in the window. For each butterfly, you will need one zipper top plastic sandwich bag, several colors of tissue paper, and one pipe cleaner. Start by tearing the tissue paper into small pieces and place them in the bag. When the bag is full, close the top. Make sure there is no air left in the bag. Gather the bag in the middle and wrap the pipe cleaner to make the body. With the top remaining pipe cleaner, bend it to look like antennae. Rainbow MobileThis rainbow is fun to make and looks very colorful. You will need one paper plate, crepe paper (or party streamers) in rainbow colors and string. Make a rainbow by cutting a paper plate in half. Cut the streamers into strips and glue the rainbow color order. Now, cut long strips of the streamer and glue to the underside of the rainbow. Punch a hole in the top and hang. Flower ShirtCreate your own spring look by making your very own spring t-shirt. Get a plain white t-shirt and several colors of fabric paint. Look for fabric paint that dries smooth and will not feel like plastic. You can often find flower shaped stamps and sponges at craft store, but you can also make your own by cutting craft foam into the desired shape. Use a paintbrush to paint the fabric paint onto the stamp and press on the shirt. You can also add thumbprint bugs, such as ladybugs, butterflies and caterpillars. Use a permanent marker to fill in the details. Find more craft ideas for kids on Suite101.
