Perfect for Mother's Day, Easter and spring themes, these toilet paper roll crafts are simple and inexpensive for preschoolers and toddlers to make.
Celebrate the arrival of spring by cleaning out the craft supply cupboard and getting creative using craft supplies saved from the recycling bin. Along with toilet paper rolls set out buttons, ribbons, yarn, beads and scrap paper, and then let the children’s imaginations take over.
Toilet Paper Roll Napkin Rings
Materials:
empty toilet paper rolls
sequins, beads, seeds, lentils, buttons
ribbon and raffia
white glue
Have an adult cut toilet paper or paper towel rolls into 1 inch sections. Give each child four sections to decorate as napkin rings.
Let the kids glue ribbon and embellishments onto the napkin rings using white glue.
Once the napkin rings are dry, wrap them in a small box or basket for a unique Mother’s Day gift.
This craft idea also works well to make stands for decorated Easter eggs. The children can decorate the stands with stickers, stamps, dried flowers, ribbons and paint.
Toilet Paper Roll Easter Bunny
Materials:
white toilet paper roll
markers
white glue
cotton ball
googly eyes
construction paper scraps
Cut two one inch sections from the empty toilet paper roll. With one section sitting on the table with the opening facing up, glue the other section next to it with the opening facing horizontally.
On the section that has the hole going horizontally, glue a nose and two ears cut from scrap paper to make the bunny’s face. Let the kids draw whiskers and a mouth using markers.
Glue two googly eyes on the head and attach a cotton ball on the body section of the toilet paper roll for a tail.
This toilet paper roll Easter bunny makes really cute napkin rings for an Easter brunch and can also work as holders for decorated Easter eggs.
Toilet Paper Roll Binoculars
Materials:
two empty toilet paper rolls
masking tape
yarn or twine
paint, stickers, stamps, markers
Give each child two empty toilet paper rolls and help them tape the rolls together side by side to make the binoculars.
At one end of the binoculars punch a hole on each side and tie yarn through each hole to make a neck strap.
Let the kids decorate their binoculars using paint, stickers and stamps.
When the binoculars are finished, take the preschoolers and toddlers on a bird watching hike for a spring theme activity.
