These yarn bubbles are not only fun to make but are a quick and easy kids crafts for all ages.Preschoolers on up to teen-agers will enjoy making these yarn shapes. Using a technique that is similar to paper mache you can create wonderful 3 dimensional shapes from yarn, liquid starch as your glue and balloons. Oh, and don't forget your imagination - you will need that too.

Fun & Creative Yarn Bubbles

What you will need to make yarn bubbles:

What you do:

1. Blow up several balloons. Invite a friend over to help you blow them up. It makes this easy kids craft even more fun.

2. Cut pieces of yarn in approximately two foot pieces. Pour some of the liquid starch into a serving size bowl. Soak several pieces of yarn at a time for about three minutes. You can make up two bowls if you want. Then you can have yarn soaking in one bowl while you are working with the other yarn.

3. Take a piece of yarn from the bowl running it through your fingers to remove excess starch. Wrap yarn around the balloon starting anywhere you like. Continue wrapping yarn around the balloon overlapping yarn pieces. You don't want a completely covered balloon. Leave openings and spaces so you get a light, airy bubble.

4. Set the balloon onto a cup to dry. Allow 24 hours for your bubble to dry. When it is dry prick the balloon with a pin and pull out the balloon pieces. Now you have a really cool creation to hang in your room or at your party.

Fun idea:

Make miniature yarn balls and turn them into Christmas or Easter ornaments.

Sprinkle your bubbles with glitter before letting them dry.

Decorate your yarn shapes with wiggly eyes, cut out noses and mouths to make funny faces. Add yarn hair for a wig.

Turn your yarn shapes into animals with felt or foam shapes cut into noses, ears and whiskers.
