Can you recommend (or point me in the direction of some of your articles) about simple crafts appropriate for an 18-month-old? Thanks!!

Hi

It's a great idea to get kids involved in crafting early. Some simple crafts that they they can do with a little help is gluing pictures.

Cut pictures out of old magazines and help her use a glue stick to glue them on. Make a book an animal book or glue photos of family members.

Coloring is another fun thing at this age. Althought don't expect much in the ay of staying in the lines!

Any craft you do from here - she or he can help with in some small way.

» jolei45 - Toddler Ideas

Hey I think that's so true!! I run a toddler program at my library and I have discovered I can do anything that I would like with them.
Mostly I cut out all the pieces to whatever (this morning we made giant ice cream cones) and let them glue down the pieces however they want to.
I have found that doing an example helps,it gets them excited about what they are getting ready to do.
Also crayons are never a bad idea, and my kids at least are fascinated with glue sticks.

Hi NaomiRG-

Here is a great craft for toddlers, they love this one!

STICKY COLLAGE

Small can or plastic container
Scissors
Assorted kinds of tape(masking, cellophane, colored, and so on)
Construction paper
Colored lables and dot stickers

Turn the can or container upside down and use it as a tape holder. Cut or tear off various lengths of tape of different types and colors, and place them around the edges of the tape holder so your child can pull them off easily. Show your child how to pull off a piece of tape and stick it onto the paper. Let him/her add colored labels and dot stickers to the collage.
Have Fun!!

Also, I would suggest playdough. Toddlers just love the playdough, you can never go wrong with it! Especially the homemade kind, if they get a little in their mouth it is not the end of the world! happy I have a quite a few different playdough recipes on my blog at:www.squidoo.com/craftykids and I do have a website with lots of ideas and free printables for toddlers and kids at www.craftkitsforkids.com! If there is anything you need or have a question, feel free to contact me!-Michelle
